MOON DRESS!

MOON DRESS!

Princess Furball is a variant of Cinderella (my favorite fairy tale i think because i liked that a normal girl used her imagination and pureness of heart to escape her squalor…and a fairy godmother). Princess Furball used her wits though, to help her out of her situation.
…i actually don’t know why the grimms thought she was clever, though. She escapes her incesty dad (other versions turn him into an evil troll who wants to marry her) by making him make make her a coat made out of every kind of fur (sorry PETA), a dress like the moon, the stars, and the sun. She thinks it’s impossible but he actually succeeds. So she runs away with all of these things and a random prince finds her in the woods, thinking she’s an animal. He lets her work in his kitchen, where the other servants are mean to her and whatnot. But he throws three balls, and she wears one of the dresses to each of them but then returns to the kitchen. He finds out it was her the whole time and marries her and they live happily ever after yadda yadda.
…but why was that clever?
i would have taken off the ugly jacket when he found me in the woods and said “hey! i’m a princess and my dad’s a creeper! can i chill in your castle till i find my own digs? thanks dawg” the end.
…but then i guess she wouldn’t need to wear the dresses. and i do love dresses. i had way too much fun thinking of dress designs for her. :D

HOLA! so this is my re-imagining of maurice sendak’s “Outside Over There”. it’s a creepy cool book not unlike the movie “The Labyrinth”, but with sucky illustrations. sorry maurice. this is my first exercise using photoshop to color with. i definitely want to keep playing with it. :)
